Installing Shaders Using the VRChat Creator Companion (VCC)
Starting with Vket2025 Winter, the rules have been updated so that certain shaders must now be installed manually through the VRChat Creator Companion (VCC).
This page explains how to register shaders distributed as VPM packages using VCC.
*You can also install other assets through VCC (such as CyanTrigger) in the same way.
*Please note that using assets not listed in the submission rules may result in submission errors.
- For Vket 2026 Summer, you will need to install the VPM packages if you plan to use the following shaders:
- After installation, make sure each shader version matches the one specified in the event rules.
- When installing shaders with VCC, double-check that the version matches the one specified in the submission rules.
- Using an incorrect version may cause errors during submission, or the shader might be replaced when building the world, leading to unintended visuals.
- Please also review the Shader regulations section of the submission rules again for confirmation.
- Visit the distribution page for each shader:
- Locate the link to add the repository to the VCC.
- For lilToon, the "Add to VCC" link is located at the top of the page.
- For UnlitWF Shader, the "Add to VCC" link can be found on the Installing VPM package page.
- Click the link to add the repository to VCC.
- If your browser prompts you to open Creator Companion, please grant permission to open it.
- Once VCC opens, a dialog for adding the repository will appear.
- Click
I Understand, Add Repository to add it. - If the repository has already been added, an error may appear -- this is normal and can be ignored.
- In VCC, open the Manage Project screen for the project where you want to add the shader.
- If the project for submission has not been created, please create it before proceeding.
- Find the shader you want to install and click the
+ icon on the right to add it to your project.
- If the shader you want to install does not appear, the community repositories may be hidden. From the
Selected Repos dropdown menu in the upper-right corner, look under the Community Repositories section, find the shader’s source, and check the box to enable it.
- Match the Shader Version
- Check if the
Installed Version matches the version specified in the rules. - If it is a different version, click the version number. A dropdown menu for selecting the version will appear.
- From the dropdown menu, find and click the version specified in the rules.
- Make sure that the shader of the specified version has been installed in your project.
- In VCC, open the project where the shader was installed by selecting Open Project.
- Confirm that the shader can be selected from the material settings.
- Perform a Rule Check using VketTools.
- If the correct version is not installed, an error will be displayed.
- If you are prompted to install the correct version, please repeat step
Match the shader version to the specified version.
If no issues occur during these steps, your shader installation is complete.
*Please note that using shaders with versions different from those specified in the rules may cause your exhibit to display incorrectly or prevent the world from building properly.
